In Maharashtra's Pardi area, a 9-year-old girl was allegedly raped in the presence of her younger sister. The accused, who remains unidentified, offered the younger sister Rs 20 to keep quiet about the heinous crime.
The incident came to light when the survivor shared her ordeal with her parents upon their return from work. The parents, both daily wage earners, were devastated by the news and immediately reported the case to the Pardi police station.
A medical examination confirmed the rape, and the survivor was found to have minor blood stains on her undergarments. Based on the younger sister's account, the police believe the suspect to be a Marathi-speaking man with a 'tilak' on his forehead, possibly familiar with the family. The accused entered the girls' rented home under the guise of inquiring about the parent's whereabouts and quickly fled after the girl was tried to raise an alarm.
The family, which hails from Gondia, had gone back to their native place some years ago after the girl's father met with an accident. They returned to Nagpur around three months ago. The police are actively investigating the case and searching for clues to apprehend the accused.
